6. Sexual Enlightenment    Posted: June 30, 2004 Reply with quote

Sexual Enlightenment is a state of perpetual Sacred Union.

Sexual Enlightenment is NOT some vague mystical state without real signs and proofs, nor is it the psycho-sexual fantasy of some imaginative mind. Neither is it a modern attempt to idealize common sex into some sort of pseudo-spiritual practice.

Sexual Enlightenment is a concrete condition of life with practical benefit and value to whatever lifestyle and desires you pursue. It brings success to all your endeavors — not always in the way you foresee — but always in the way that promotes maximum growth and evolution for you and your surroundings. Often — usually — its outcome is bigger than anything you ever imagined.

Inwardly, Sexual Enlightenment is a heightened state of awareness and energy. It is marked by perception that recognizes the Unity of creation, and one's Self as the source of it. Sexual Enlightenment floods the mind and body with ecstatic waves of sensually arousing bliss — ecstasy that is nothing short of orgasmic. It is a real state indicated by measurable changes in brain and physiological functioning.

Outwardly, Sexual Enlightenment brings about what is at first the most surprising, awe-inspiring, and often amusing experience you will ever encounter. The universe begins to respond to your thoughts and actions, guiding you along, bringing results, and teaching you about life. The surprise is in learning you are not alone in life, that a universal mind guides everything. The awe is in the same, and if not for the often humorous way the universe does all this, you might take it too seriously and fear Nature's awesome power. Soon though, it simply becomes your natural way of life — the way the universe works.

Sexual Enlightenment is the pinnacle of human evolution. It is not new, though it has often been known by different names — nirvana, Self-realization, God-realization, cosmic consciousness, Christ-consciousness, the Kingdom of Heaven within, moksha, liberation, buddhahood, or just plain enlightenment. But as you'll see, 'Sexual Enlightenment' describes it most accurately and completely.

Sexual Enlightenment is both your birthright and your destiny. The one constant in this ever-changing universe — evolution — sees to that. Everyone and everything in creation is ever evolving. And every soul, either sooner or later, in this lifetime or some future one, will evolve to Sexual Enlightenment. (For more on this, see Journey of the Soul.)

The easiest way to understand Sexual Enlightenment is by an analogy. This analogy explains how Sexual Enlightenment is lived in the world, not the inner experience of it. But seeing its outer mechanics clarifies the inner state, which we'll describe later. This analogy also shows the practical benefits of Sexual Enlightenment in your life.

The gist of the analogy is not new, but the comprehension of it is.

Life is like a stage drama.

Like any entertaining play, our drama has a stage (the world, or if you want the big picture, creation). It also has various sets (individual living environments), actors (you & me, and all living beings), a script with different roles for each actor, and of course a playwright.

In stage drama, the playwright's existence is clearly accepted. In life, it is not always so. If you don't currently accept this idea, then take it now with a grain of salt for the sake of analogy; its proof will be shown later. Some choose to call this cosmic playwright 'God', or 'Goddess', or other religious term. However, since its basic function is to write the script, which requires a mind, we'll simply call it 'Universal Mind'.

Now when you go to a theatre and watch a play, all the actors follow their roles and the drama flows smoothly to its scripted end. Each actor's role supports every other one's part in the whole. There is fluidity to each character's life, and between characters. Each knows his or her place in the grand scheme of things — the script. Each sees they are part of a whole that is bigger than they individually are, even bigger than the sum of the actors, for they play out a collective drama beyond their individual roles.

On a personal level too, the actors feel fulfilled playing out their individual roles and developing their characters. And why not, each actor is cast in a role that best suits that actor. Working together with the playwright's staff, they are selected for and accept their role. They relish it and enthusiastically act it out. Many feel they were born for the role.

Even the sets on stage serve a purpose in the plot design. When it is time for rain, rains comes; when snow is called for, snow falls. Each actor's home is perfect for their scripted need, as is the land they live on. There is a distinct connection and relationship between the actors and the stage — between man and nature. Even if conflict or tragedy is scripted into the play there is acceptance of it, a sense that it was meant to be. There is an underlying order and harmony that life in the scripted play flows by.

And when the play is done (and oftentimes during), everyone stands and applauds. They cheer the actors for their performances, and laud the playwright for his or her genius. No one for a moment doubts the playwright's existence, even if it is always behind the scenes.

So long as everyone follows the script, all goes according to plan, and the beauty and genius of that plan is clearly evident.

But what if the drama was different? What if everyone on stage suddenly forgot their roles? Without a coordinating script, every actor is on their own. They begin to compete for needs and desires, butting heads with fellow actors. Trust vanishes, relationships shatter, and rivalries grow. Factions seek power over others. Conflicts erupt. Chaos rules the day. A survival of the fittest mentality overtakes, and life becomes struggle in a dog eat dog world.

The stage is now a battleground for life. The drama no longer correlates with the sets, so the actors see their props only as resources for personal gain, which they fight over. A rift grows between man and nature as the connection between them is lost, and wealth goes to those who exploit her most. It is no longer just man against man, but man vs. nature.

Behind such chaos, the idea of a playwright seems ludicrous. From a factual standpoint, no order is seen. From a moral one, how could such disorder reign? All evidence points to a godless world.

It's not hard to see that this latter drama looks much like today's world. And the worldviews of the actors are like those of most people today. Earlier we said we would offer proof of a 'Playwright' behind the drama of life. In a world as just described, such proof seems hard to come by.

Yet amazingly, this is the first miracle of Sexual Enlightenment — that such proof shows itself even in the most unlikely of worlds.

First, what must that proof be? It must be something objective, outside one's inner (subjective) experience, and beyond one's control. The Playwright's function is to craft an integrated script, in which everything interrelates and coordinates with everything else. If such synchrony exists beyond the random level of coincidence, a Playwright must be deduced.

This is exactly what happens in Sexual Enlightenment. Connected events and all manner of synchronicities follow you around in Sexual Enlightenment. They range in scale from life-altering changes to the tiniest, most seemingly trivial detail. They include synchronous relations between people, animals and nature, even inanimate objects. They even include oddities that can only be described as cosmic jokes, for they serve no purpose at all other than to amuse you and show you that the Playwright is there. In showbiz they say that timing is everything; in Sexual Enlightenment, the Playwright's timing is impeccable.

The most fascinating part is HOW it is all done — through your mind. The Playwright coordinates everything with your own thoughts and desires, showing you the clear connection between your inner being and the outer world. At the same time, it's clear that the Playwright simultaneously works through ALL minds, coordinating numberless events. More amazing still is that interaction with unenlightened people can be synchronous for you while the others remain totally oblivious.

How this all plays out can easily be seen in the above analogy. What follows could a scene from our drama:

A sexually enlightened woman is new in town, having just arrived to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer. She is walking down the street and 'happens' to wonder whether she'll meet a nice guy in her new locale. She thinks about who he may be, and fantasizes that he could be walking the street nearby at that very moment. She says to herself, "I hope he has HEART."

Just then, a car screeches to a halt just beside her, but not in time to miss upending a pedestrian who, not being sexually enlightened, is in the wrong place at the wrong time in his own life script. The woman rushes over to assist, as does another man, who has already called for help, offered his jacket for comfort, and is helping the victim to the side of the road. Relieved at finding just bumps & bruises, the two leave the victim to fend for himself.

As our newly arrived dancer walks away, she remarks, "That was very considerate what you did for him back there. You don't see that often." They get to chatting, and he mentions that his date for that night's sold-out ballet cancelled on him. "Would you like to join me?" No sooner does she think, 'Now here's a guy with heart', than he introduces himself. "By the way, I'm John Hartman". luv

Now think about all that went into 'scripting' that event. Not only is there the event itself — meeting someone she wanted — but also the extra signs showing her it was meant to be. Her thoughts before the incident, his helpful aid, she a dancer and he with ballet tickets, his name, and of course, the timing of it all. And only for her was it a synchronous experience because of all the internal factors; the victim was oblivious (even upset) and her new friend probably just thinks he got lucky.

Of course it takes many such events, forming a clear pattern over time, to indicate a universal mind. That is precisely life in Sexual Enlightenment. And it is more blatant when, never having had these experiences before, they suddenly manifest on the day of your sexual awakening, and continue thereafter.

Sexual Enlightenment does not always mean a fairytale ending. Life is life and each of us has our own drama to play out, and it is not always 'good'. But in Sexual Enlightenment there is ALWAYS an understanding about it — a knowingness that it is meant to be, and therefore a peaceful acceptance that goes along with it.

How this shows up in your own Sexual Enlightenment is VERY personal. In fact, it's the most personal experience you will ever have. Because, as was mentioned, Universal Mind works through your own mind — your thoughts and desires — it manifests in a way that mirrors YOU. Your scripted life reflects your personality and desires. These may change as you grow into Sexual Enlightenment, but they remain uniquely you. In a scripted play, synchronous events befall all the characters, but happen to each in terms of that character's life.

The great poet Walt Whitman not only recognized the drama of life, but also the different roles of everyone in it, from all walks of life:

Quote:
The man's body is sacred and the woman's body is sacred,
No matter who it is, it is sacred — is it the meanest one in the laborers' gang?
Is it one of the dull-faced immigrants just landed on the wharf?
Each belongs here or anywhere just as much as the well-off, just as much as you,
Each has his or her place in the procession.

(All is a procession, The universe is a procession with measured and perfect motion.)

—I Sing the Body Electric; [parentheses Whitman's]

The drama analogy above is very accurate in showing the difference between life in Sexual Enlightenment and life before. In fact, you can use the analogy to answer just about any question you have about how Sexual Enlightenment acts in the world. Just apply the scenario to the drama to get the basic answer to your question.

More important, you can use the analogy to better understand and answer questions about your own life, including why you face problems and suffering, why nothing seems to go your way, why others around you don't support your desires and growth, and more. These things happen because you're out of sync with your natural role in life. Make some change, get back in sync, and everything falls into place. You'll see how below — just follow your desire. An entire Forum Topic is dedicated to the lesson here.

The drama analogy also works for showing how a sexually enlightened society functions — smoothly, peacefully, joyfully, and successfully.

As described above, when everyone follows their role in a scripted play, there is an underlying order and harmony to the drama. Everyone's life flows in the same direction: toward evolutionary fulfillment. Desires and actions support and complement each other, rather than compete and conflict. Also as described, even the set and stage promote the drama's unfolding. And because every aspect of the drama contributes to the plot, it inevitably progresses as designed. That design, we have seen, is evolution. So in the case of our real-world drama, society achieves great success. Imagine all the world's resources cooperatively used for the progress of all.

Even more, this all happens in the same miraculous way it unfolds to an individual in Sexual Enlightenment — through amazing synchronicities and correlated events. Nature itself supports our endeavors, and brings them to fruition. These wonders not only result in unimaginable achievements, but also they prove beyond a doubt that Universal Mind is guiding the entire drama. Only Cosmic Mind could pull off such scripting.

This aspect of Sexual Enlightenment impacts all areas of life and society: health, education, government, economics, law & order, and more. It is the basis for establishing a utopian society, as explained in our Sacred Sex Society Forum. This is the future we have to look forward to.

Today though, there are many that will have trouble accepting the above ideas. And while proof of Universal Mind only comes through your own experience, it's useful at least to clearly understand WHY that experience is different before and after Sexual Enlightenment.

Place yourself in the drama analogy above. Imagine a script, with all its organized dialog and action. Note how all the right props and sets are in the right place at the right time to unfold the drama smoothly. As an actor in that play, wouldn't it be clear that someone — some mind beyond the individual actors onstage — has scripted that drama?

Now imagine yourself having forgotten your role. You randomly move around the stage, interacting with other actors, naturally trying to meet your personal needs and desires. You compete with others who may or may not be following the script themselves. You may fail or succeed at meeting your needs, but either way, whatever happens is your own individual doing. Nothing is organized for you; everything is random. Life is a bunch of individuals, each looking out for themselves, period.

From this analogy, you can at least see how it's possible that Universal Mind can exist, even though many (most) don't experience it.

Experience is very convincing, and we take our own experience — whatever it may be — to be real. But history has shown that our experience is not always true.

There was a time on earth when everyone believed the world was flat. Experience showed us it was so. Even logic demanded it, for how else could we walk without falling? It was also once accepted that everything in creation revolved around the earth. That was also our experience — the sun, moon, planets, and stars were all SEEN to circle the earth. What more proof could there be? Yet today we know both these 'experiential truths' — and others like them — to be wrong.

Plato wrote a fascinating analogy about this in The Republic. In it, he describes the experience of people who have been chained inside a cave since birth. They are constrained so that they can only view the back wall. Behind them is the mouth of the cave, and also a blazing fire. The 'prisoners' however can see none of that, only the shadows created by these on the back wall. The only sounds they hear are the echoes of sounds off the back wall.

Seeing and hearing nothing else, they accept the shadows and echoes as real. They give names to different shadows and sounds, just as we do to various objects and sounds we experience. Thus to the prisoners, a 'box' is a square-shaped shadow, and nothing you say can convince them otherwise.

Plato goes on to surmise what happens when one or a few prisoners are 'liberated from their bonds of ignorance' — none of the remaining prisoners believe them when the freed ones try to enlighten those who are still bound.

The distinct knowledge and experience one gains in Sexual Enlightenment brings out another point, relating to what we call 'wisdom' in life.

In Sexual Enlightenment, the mysteries of life and creation are revealed.

In Sexual Enlightenment, you see how universal law functions because it shows itself in your life. You come to know (or at least glimpse) Universal Mind, because you see how it intervenes in your own life. You see how Universal Mind thinks and desires through your individual mind and manifests them in the world. You see yourself as an instrument that Cosmic Mind acts through. You also see how others are instruments too, even unwittingly.

An actor following the script glimpses the genius of the playwright, even if he can't comprehend the totality of it. Such people are trustworthy spokespersons for the playwright. They often come out to teach the world the truths revealed to them. They are people throughout history whom we have called enlightened, saints, and the like, or even crazy, blasphemous, and seditious, because the masses rarely understand them. They are the Buddhas and the Christs of the world, and many lesser-known ones too.

Each may give a different perspective, from the point of view of their own role in the drama, but each still appreciates and understands the principles that drive the script of life. These principles are their teaching. Even the Playwright may assume a role in the drama, and appear as different characters at different times, and speak in different ways. This is the source of different religions, espoused by different Playwright incarnations.

The mysteries of life may not be what you think. They have little to do with 'factual' answers. They don't necessarily reveal how stars are born, or the age of the universe (though they may to a particular individual whose role it is to know that). Rather, the mysteries of life mainly apply to relevant and practical wisdom about how life WORKS. And even that is personal — it's about how YOUR life works. That's what makes it so valuable to YOU.

The main wisdom found on this website has come not through teachers or books or other schooling, but through this experience. Traditional methods of learning only serve to clarify intellectual understanding of it. In that regard they are good and helpful, but they are still only aids.

Various cultures around the world have used the same symbolism to represent this inner wisdom — that of an eye. The Egyptians called it the 'eye of Horus', while in India, it is the eye of Shiva, or simply the 'Third Eye', associated with the sixth chakra located on the brow between the two physical eyes. Buddhists call it simply the 'urna'. Secret societies in the West, such as the Freemasons, have also used the eye as a symbol of wisdom, and to this day it can be seen atop the pyramid on the back of a US $1 bill. Inner wisdom has a physiological basis too; it has been associated with the higher functioning of the pineal gland.

Like the physical eyes, the Third Eye responds to light, in this case, the Light of Knowledge. Inner wisdom is often accompanied by experiences of Inner Light as well. It will be for physiologists to explore the bodily proofs of this experience.

By now you may be wondering what all this has to do with sex, not to mention sacred sex. You may also not be keen on following a scripted life, no matter who writes it. Fortunately, the answer to the first question will erase your concern about freedom in the drama of life.

We in the west, especially Americans, like our freedom, and view with suspicion anything that smacks of control. The idea of following someone else's script, or following ANY script for that matter — even your own — doesn't sit well. Freedom ideals are rising around the world too. Against that comes the idea of a 'script' running our lives. This goes beyond control. It raises the ultimate freedom question: are we governed by fate or free will?

The answer to that question is 'yes'. We are blessed with BOTH. This is one of the miracles of life you discover in Sexual Enlightenment. And the key to it all is something at the very root of sex: DESIRE.

Desire is the link between your individual freedom and your universal role in life. Your individual role in the universal plan is written in your heart as your innermost desires. It is encoded in your DNA as your personal constitution, giving you the perfect physiology and personality to fulfill your role. It is not that you have to follow your script; it's that you WANT to. And you choose to with each and every thought and action you take.

A few simple examples show this to be true.

Say you walk into an ice cream shop, and step up to the counter to place your order. And let's say that by nature, your favorite flavor is mint chocolate chip. Without even scanning the choices, you order your favorite. Now the big question: was your choice fate or free will? You may insist it's free will, but it is equally destiny. It is predetermined by the taste buds of your tongue, created out of your DNA. You were following the script of nature — your nature.

The same applies to all your choices in life. When you choose a profession, you choose one that suits your nature. Your nature is who you are; it is inborn. If you are energetic and competitive by nature, you may choose to be an athlete. If you're entrepreneurial, you'll start a business. If you love numbers, you may be a mathematician or accountant.

The same goes for where you live. If you love the nightlife, you live in the city. If you like peace & quiet, you live in the country. If you love the beach, you move to the ocean. If you don't much care, you probably follow your job. And if you don't like to move, you live where you grew up.

In each case, your life choice starts with what you desire, and that's deeply ingrained in your nature. Of course every choice is based on multiple factors, and the above examples are oversimplified. But if you look closely at your response to those factors, you'll see that your choices are driven by personality traits that collectively comprise your nature. This nature — your nature — is the script that runs your life. You freely choose to follow your nature with every breath you take.

This shows the script in a different light. It is not as much a set plan as it is a flow. Your nature has specific tendencies that dictate the free choices you make in life. It's like a river that flows in a particular direction, freely following its own current.

Now your question may be: if we always follow our script in life, what's different in Sexual Enlightenment?

This question gets to the very heart of the matter, literally.

You see, although you always follow your nature, you don't always follow your DESIRE. There are other things in your nature that get in the way of desire, and dissuade or prevent you from following it. These may be fear, doubt, insecurity, laziness, lack of persistence, guilt, shame, self-hate, self-denial, clinging to the past or present, attachment to people or things that don't serve you, settling for less, or simply not knowing what you want. These may be part of your nature, and you may let them dictate your choices in life, but they are not your TRUE nature. Your true nature is pure desire.

Let's revisit our examples to see what this means. You're in the ice cream store and your pure nature — your desire — tells you to buy your favorite flavor. Then something else kicks in, fear of getting fat. You change your mind and walk out. You follow your nature, but not your desire.

Or your dream is to be a dancer. But instead of pursuing that dream, you let self-doubt, laziness, and settling for less, convince you otherwise. You follow your nature, but not the life-script you desire.

This is where the concept of higher nature and lower nature — pure and impure nature — comes in. Desire is your true, pure, highest nature. Everything else is less. Sexual Enlightenment dawns when you follow your true nature.

Desire is always for more and more. This is how you grow and evolve. Ultimately, desire seeks out the most — the most happiness, peace, power, and truth. This ultimate most is universal existence. Desire leads you to universality, your evolutionary goal.

Thus the Golden Rule for gaining Sexual Enlightenment:

Follow your heart's desire. luv

This topic is so important that an entire Forum is dedicated to it, here.

(See the related Social Correctness Forum for following your heart in social situations.)

In Sexual Enlightenment, you see your individual desires as expressions of universal desire — waves of desire on the ocean of universal desire. You are an instrument of Cosmic Desire.

Many spiritual and religious traditions today have a negative view of desire, but this stems from a limited view of it. They see its effects when tainted by the limitations of our lower nature, and assume it to be base in nature itself. But when set free and presented a path to true fulfillment, desire is the most powerful evolutionary force in creation.

This is, in fact, the wisdom that was known in many Eastern traditions, though it has now lost some of its meaning. In India, following one's true nature is called 'dharma'. The term literally means 'natural law' — the laws by which creation and everything in it function. It is synonymous with evolution. On an individual level, dharma equates with your personal nature — that which you evolve by. Following your dharma, or duty as it is often called, means following your true nature, or desire.

Chinese Taoism is founded entirely on this idea. The 'Tao', which literally means 'The Way', is the way of nature that must be followed for spiritual progress in life. The Egyptian goddess Ma'at (or Maat) represented similar values.

Desire is also behind the symbolism of the mandala (literally, 'circle') in India, and also Buddhism. The symbol represents the Circle of Life, which is Universal Mind manifesting through Cosmic Desire as individual mind, and then regaining universal status through awakening of individual desire. This Circle of Life symbolism was also passed down to the Native Americans.

The importance of following this universal script is even poignantly taught by Jesus in the New Testament:

Quote:
Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?" Then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; go away from me, you evil-doers."

—Matthew 7:21-23

Unfortunately in many traditions, the understanding of this wisdom of life has deteriorated to little more than moralistic preaching about 'right' and 'wrong' action, often combined with the fear-laced concepts of judgement and sin.

From our drama analogy, it's very easy to see the distinction between the common Western view of 'right action' and the one presented here that leads to true awakening. The common view is that we should be kind, good, truthful, and virtuous in other ways. The deeper understanding is that we should live out our true nature, thus fulfilling the purpose for which we were created.

In simple terms, while being a doctor may be virtuous in general, if your inner love and desire are for art, then it does not serve your higher nature. Likewise, activities that may not seem virtuous can be avenues to awakening if they satisfy your true nature.

Because it is such a vital, provocative, and misunderstood concept, the following Forums have been set up to clarify desire and its value in life:
Desire is not only the way to Sexual Enlightenment, but also it explains the inner experience of it. Everyone knows the experience of fulfilled desire. It is one of joyful exhilaration and release. And the more deeply held the desire, the more ecstatic the elation. Even the act of pursuing the desire, before it is fulfilled, fills you with enthusiastic life energy and drive. If these experiences are foreign to you, it suggests that you should follow your desires more.

The ecstatic release that accompanies a deeply held desire is much the same as orgasm, on a smaller scale. In fact, orgasm itself is nothing other than the ecstatic release of one of our deepest and most powerful yearnings — sexual desire.

If you see the connection between orgasm and fulfilling the desires of your day-to-day nature, then you can imagine the ecstasy that accompanies fulfillment of your true, pure nature. It is literally a fulfillment of the purpose for which you are born, and to witness that — to live, breathe, speak, and act it — is genuinely orgasmic. And it is so 24 hours a day, every day.

This is why we call it 'Sexual' Enlightenment.

The same vibrant life energy that courses through your body during sexual desire floods your system when following and fulfilling your life desire.

Sexual Enlightenment is literally a state of continuous fulfillment of desire. Unlike common desires, which when gained are soon forgotten in the quest after new desires, your true life desires are permanently ingrained sources of fulfillment. They thoroughly and continuously satisfy you by nature.

Lest you think such an experience would be overwhelming, impossible to live with, or even boring (because it's the same every day), it's not like that at all. Your body adjusts to this perfectly natural experience in a natural way.

Envision living the life you've always wanted. Yes, when you finally get there after pursuing it so long, you're in seventh heaven for a time. But then it simply becomes your natural way of life and you live out your dream enjoying daily activities like before. The main difference is that there is always that undercurrent of joy that comes from living your dream. Sexual Enlightenment is like that. On special occasions that may well up in orgasmic-type ecstasy, but mostly it's a quiet, peaceful, and joyful background awareness.

In the highest sense, Sexual Enlightenment is marked by a permanent state of Sacred Union. Sacred Union is full awareness of your inner male and female essence in Union. Your male essence is silent Inner Being. Your female essence is awareness of that Inner Being. When you perceive both of these in their full value, you see that they are essentially one and the same — Inner Being is aware of itself. Male and female essence are together in Union. This is why spiritual awakening — which this experience marks — is best termed 'Sexual Enlightenment'. That name most clearly describes the nature of the experience.

Sexual Enlightenment is the consummation of sacred sex. It is the marriage of God & Goddess made permanent. In Sexual Enlightenment, you live their Sacred Union.

See the Sacred Union Forum for a complete discussion of that experience.

Your male essence is pure universality. It is Universal Existence, or in terms of you, your Universal Self. Your female essence is also universal, but in a different way. It is universal in the way the universe is — the sum of all parts. In that, your individuality is comprised of female essence. You are one part of the universal whole.

We saw earlier that your ultimate desire as an individual is to gain universal status. This is the evolutionary aim of your individuality. So when you experience Sacred Union, and it becomes permanent in Sexual Enlightenment, you live in a continuous state of fulfillment of your deepest desire. This again shows why Sexual Enlightenment is an orgasmic-like experience. Like sexual orgasm, it is the fulfillment of a powerful, deep-seated desire.

It is important to understand the mechanism that allows Sacred Union to evolve into Sexual Enlightenment, because it shows the value of following your heart and finding your role in the script of life.

In Sacred Union, you experience — for a moment, typically during sacred sex — your male and female essence in Union. If this fulfills your highest desire, why does the experience disappear after your momentary glimpse? It's because when you finish sacred sex and return to the world of activity, that part of your nature takes over. And whatever stops you from following your desire there, prevents you from enjoying your ultimate desire within. Your lower nature gets in the way of your higher nature.

When you are fully following your heart and living out your desire in the world, there is no obstacle to the free flow of desire within. Then it continuously cycles in ultimate fulfillment — individuality inwardly aware of universality, and universality coming out to play in the field of individuality. You are living the Circle of Life.

This also clarifies a major question and misunderstanding about spiritual awakening. Many traditions equate enlightenment or religious life with shunning the world. They advocate ascetic or monastic ways, denial of comforts and pleasures, turning from desire, and other types of non-involvement in the world. The mechanics of Sexual Enlightenment reveal the error of these notions. Spiritual realization is a holistic state that encompasses both — inner & outer, silence & activity, spiritual & material. It is a harmony, balance, and Union of opposites — male and female. In that, it is truly a Sexual Enlightenment.

This truth about spiritual awakening places sacred sex in a uniquely powerful position to evoke it. Sacred sex is the only spiritual practice that directly frees up desire and leads it to its ultimate evolutionary fulfillment. Teachings with renunciate views not only oppose most people's nature, but even if successful in bestowing reclusive experience, leave you without guidance to integrate them into your worldly life.

The clarity that sacred sex brings to these all-important life issues is why we call it a true science. The Science of Sacred Sex clearly explains the nature of life, our place in it, the way to evolutionary fulfillment, and the nature of that evolved state. It also gives proofs along the way. Everyone should take this science to heart for benefit in their own lives, and share it with those around them.

Sacred sex assists your spiritual awakening from both sides, inner experience and its outer manifestation (your daily life).

Inwardly, sacred sex leads you to deeper and fuller experiences as you practice over time. This occurs because you retain your sexual energy during orgasm (see Sacred Sex Lesson 4). This lets you continuously build up your sexual energy, bringing multiple deeper and longer-lasting orgasms. This extended orgasm leads to orgasmic ecstasy, a trance-like meditative state that is the gateway to spiritual awakening. From here, you slip in and out of Sacred Union, the peak sacred sex experience described earlier.

With continued regular practice, your body habituates to the experience of union and ecstasy, and maintains them for longer periods. You first feel this as 'afterglow' that remains even after sex. Over time, this experience grows deeper and becomes fuller, culminating in permanent Sacred Union. This is Sexual Enlightenment.

Outwardly, sacred sex assists your awakening by helping you follow your heart in many ways.

If you are not currently following your heart: sacred sex opens your heart to the experience of fulfillment of desire.

If you are not in the habit of following your heart, your heart is partially closed or shut down. You are most likely not even aware of this, because it is your everyday life experience. Your heart reacts to unfulfilled desire by shutting out that desire, and continuing through life as though it doesn't exist. Psychology calls this an ego-defense mechanism. You protect yourself by ignoring the hurt.

You life may seem to flow smoothly, if uneventfully, but effect of ignoring your heart's desires builds up inside. Its impact is very real. One alarming health statistic among Americans bears this out: 9AM Monday morning is the most likely time to suffer a heart attack. The reason? The stress you put on your heart by forcing it back to a job or career it doesn't want to do.

We typically put up with something we don't like until we find something better. Before then, we have nothing to compare it to, so we accept it as the norm. The moment something better comes along though, we seize the day and change our lives.

Sacred sex gives you exactly that experience. It lets your heart feel what it's like to really open and be satisfied. After that, you stop settling for less. You make changes in your life that bring that experience every day.

Sacred sex brings this about even if you don't know what you want. You simply desire something better, and some synchronous event comes along that reveals your next step. Your perfectly scripted life awaits you, whenever you're ready to step into the role. You are ready when you desire it.

Sacred sex even 'trains' you to let go of everything and follow your desire. The Sacred Sex Lessons teach you to let go and go with the flow. This gets you in the habit of following the natural flow of desire outside of sex.

If you are following your heart but having no spiritual experience: sacred sex heightens and refines your awareness, revealing more of your desire. You explore and appreciate finer details of your desire, or view it on a grander scale. In short, sacred sex takes your desire to a new level, bringing greater outer success and deeper inner experience.

For those in either category above, for whom sacred sex itself is a means to awakening: If you do not have strong life desires in other areas, but have a virile sex drive, sacred sex is all you need to rise to Sexual Enlightenment. In your case, it typically manifests as described under 'inner experience' above.

Whatever your circumstance, your path to awakening will be well marked with signs. Sexual Enlightenment is a concrete experience with clear markers along the way. You may see some or all as it unfolds:
  • momentary experiences of Sacred Union during sacred sex
  • residual experiences of Sacred Union after sacred sex
  • tastes or glimpses of Sacred Union during peak moments in life
  • life-transforming synchronous events that reveal your life purpose
  • day-to-day synchronous events that guide and teach you
  • experience of Universal Mind acting through your mind and body
  • build-up of events and achievements signaling progress on your path
  • interconnections with the life-paths of others
  • highly evolved sense of identity and purpose
  • perceptions of past, future, or distant events relating to your path
  • growing inner strength and physical rejuvenation
  • physical healing, especially of long-term 'nagging' ailments
  • emotional healing (as needed)
  • experience of Sacred Union after completion of some activity (typically resting)
  • experience of Sacred Union during familiar or routine activity
  • experience of Sacred Union at the start of some new activity
  • experience of Sacred Union during sleep
  • continuous Sacred Union, 24 hours a day, every day
The last series of Sacred Union experiences are listed in the sequence that they typically occur. Each successive experience shows an advancing stage of Sexual Enlightenment. Note that the nighttime experience in no way relates to erotic dreams or so-called 'wet dreams'; it is a state of inner wakefulness or Self-awareness during sleep.

Along with the general markers above, there are three clear stages in the unfolding of Sexual Enlightenment. These are explained here.

These experiences in turn have their own evidence. Your body changes as your experience grows. One change is quite noticeable and heightens the sensuality of sacred sex. Your sexual organs and fluids emanate a distinctly sweet and fragrant scent. This is simply the physiological correlate of your 'sweet' experience inside — Sacred Union. Both you and your partner will likely find it highly erotic.

More important transformations happen as well. Physiological changes (mainly neuro- and bio-chemical) occur that support your higher functioning. Many of these changes involve glands and other bodily parts whose functions are not entirely known in mainstream medicine. They are simply dormant aspects of your inborn higher nature, waiting to be awakened. The fact that they pre-exist in the body shows that we have de-evolved from a higher state, not evolved from a lower one. Our return to Sexual Enlightenment is thus nothing more than coming home to what we already are, and have always been.

In that, as wondrous and miraculous as it may seem, Sexual Enlightenment is simply natural.

time for sexual enlightenment    Posted: January 8, 2007 Reply with quote

It takes no time at all...

...or it can take many, many lifetimes. It's up to you.

Sexual Enlightenment dawns in an instant when you remember your true nature and live out your desire. The only time required is the time it takes to awaken to that.

The good news is that if you've gotten this far - to where you're even reading this and desiring this - then you're almost home. Just take what you learn here and use it as best you can, and you'll be there before you know it.

And the best thing about sacred sex is that even the path is fun, before you arrive at the goal.
